At the Centre méditerranéen d'études françaises (Mediterranean Centre for French Studies) in Cap d’Ail yesterday, the Rencontres Théâtrales Jean Cocteau (Jean Cocteau Theatre Festival) returned after a two-year absence.

The Albert I Committee was a partner for this event. As a prelude to the performances by pupils from Monegasque, French and Italian secondary schools, five professional actors performed, as a tribute, one of Cocteau’s poems, “Le Discours du Grand Sommeil” (The Speech of Deep Sleep), whose themes reflect the Prince’s work. In addition, the theatre option group led by Ms Paillé (Lycée Albert I) presented a performance including extracts from “La Carrière d'un navigateur” (The Career of a Navigator).
